This is the external iliac vein obstructed by a large thrombus!

This is a venogram of the external iliac vein in a model we have developed. The vein is completely obstructed by a large thrombus (blood clot), an example of a Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). Models like these are required for evaluation of devices to treat DVT, such as thrombectomy devices and venous stents. Since patients are often treated days after developing DVT, the chronic model is invaluable for predicting and extrapolating results for human applications.
